Last night, while we were watching Slovenia's basketball team lose against Spain, Had tried to do something with my iPhone 2G and it became iBrick for a night. Today I accidentally upgraded my previously unlocked iPhone to 3.1, and couldn't unlock it, because redsn0w is not working for 3.1 (yet).
I tried and I tried, and I finally made it. As I type this post, iTunes is restoring my previous backup (thankfully I backed up my iPhone yesterday), so let's go to the tutorial on how to downgrade iPhone 3.1 OS to 3.0 if you accidentally upgraded to 3.1 version.
How downgrade iPhone 3.1 FW to 3.0 (and unlock it)
- put your iPhone in DFU mode (tutorial on iClarified should clarify how to do it),
- downgrade to 3.0, hold Option key while clicking Restore in iTunes ,
- choose appropriate 3.0 file to downgrade (I used file for iPhone 2G: iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw, iPhone 3G: iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw, for iPhone 3GS downgrade isn't possible for now,
- when restore is complete use redsn0w to unlock & jailbreak it (I live in Slovenia, where iPhone can not be bought, so unlock is imperative for me,
- sync your iPhone with iTunes ... (it may last),
- ... and breathe easily again!
This article is in English because I'd wanted to spread the word how to downgrade iPhone 3.1 OS to 3.0 on iPhone 2G and 3G phones to the world, usually ŽVPL's content is in Slovene language only (for now, at least).
